Easy Moving
Moving house can be one of the most stressful things you will do. Having to organise so many things at once whilst physically exhausting yourself with the move isn't something that anyone will find fun. Fortunately, with the help of qualified removalists, you can drastically reduce your workload and ensure a quick and efficient move. This guide will help you to prepare your home for the removal company whilst vastly speeding up your unpacking with some handy hints and tips.
Pre-Collection
Before the moving company arrives you'll want to make sure you have everything boxed up. Most companies will wear back supports to help with heavy loads and use trolleys to help move multiple boxes at the same time. However, when boxing up, make sure you don't overload boxes. There should be a maximum weight limit printed on the side; this will ensure that when the box is lifted, the bottom doesn't fall through. Proper removal boxes will be foldable and won't require lots of taping, making them portable and able to store flat. Even though the company will no doubt handle with care, use balls of newspaper between fragile objects to cushion the impact when boxes are placed down.
Furniture Skis
Furniture will be easy to move for the removal company. However, with things like drawers, take them out and fill them with clothes. Removing the drawers will make the furniture items lighter to move, and then the drawers can be inserted back in to save space in the truck. To help items when they are off-loaded, use plastic frisbees or a soft blanket to make a sledge that can be used to slide the furniture over the floor. Frisbees are better for carpets, whilst blankets are better for hardwood floors to help avoid scratching.
Walkways
Before the removal company off-loads, think about whether you're happy for them to walk in with their boots. If not, then use old sheets, newspaper, flat boxes or plastic sheets to line the flooring. It'll protect the carpet from stains and hardwood from scratches. The removal company won't have time to remove their boots so this will give everyone peace of mind, especially if it's wet outside.
Label
Label your boxes with the rooms they belong in. It will save you from having to transport the boxes around the house or flat, helping you to unpack faster whilst protecting your back from potential injury.
